PHP Data Engineer

Join our engineering office in Taipei near Taipei City Hall! Our Taiwan team handles full-stack php web development, data feed processing, API integrations, and quantitative analysis. We are looking for engineers to join one or more of these projects. Note, we speak English at weekly team meetings with the New York office.
RentHop and RealtyHop are profitable and rapidly growing real estate platforms in the US. We serve over 2 million unique visitors each month looking to buy, rent, sell, or lease their residential properties. Our paying customers include the full spectrum of real estate entities, from very large management firms down to individual small landlords with 1 unit. We are very similar to "591" in Taiwan, for finding houses and apartments.
As a data engineer, you will be responsible for downloading, processing, cleaning, and managing dozens of real estate and economic data feeds passing to and from our various partners. The database architecture, server framework, security, payment processing, content hosting, and 3rd party data integrations are all challenging components that must work together seamlessly into a friendly user experience and robust solution.
Your will join our existing Taipei development team, working out of the office near Taipei City Hall (at the JustCo Dian Shih building). Each week you and your team will meet directly with the CEO, Managing Director, and Dev Leader as we expand our traffic and user base to the next level.
We keep flexible hours during the office, but we require almost daily Mon-Fri in the Taipei City Hall office during the first few months of joining to ensure a smooth onboarding and learning process. The company will pay for expenses to take annual trips to the New York City office to encourage more bonding and interaction between the Taipei and NYC teams.

- Bachelors Degree or higher in computer science
- Very comfortable with github, crons, and common shell commands (ssh, curl, scp, nohup)
- Working knowledge of some or all: PHP, SQL, Linux, Amazon EC2 / S3 / EFS
- Fluent in English - comfortable discussing technical terms in English
- Experience in real estate or real estate finance a plus
