Taelor, an AI and sustainable fashion startup founded by the former Meta ecommerce lead in Silicon Valley, is looking for a hybrid role of Data Scientist/ Data Analyst who will own digital product analytics, marketing analytics and business analytics. This can be a full-time, contract-to-hire, part-time, or internship position who works remotely internationally.

About The Role

As a team member in an early stage startup, you have the opportunity to use cutting-edge technology and frameworks to craft solutions from scratch instead of fixing issues of legacy old-school systems that were built on outdated systems and practices. The ability to thrive and create a vision for work in a fast-paced, iterative, and unstructured environment is critical.

You will have the unique opportunity to make an impact right off the bat and work directly with our senior executives. You can impact strategic decisions such as designing the business models, assisting with roadmap planning, evaluating vender’s service and products, or engaging in merger and acquisition of other startups’ assets. You will widen your network exponentially and meet world-class stylists, engineers, scientists, inventors and founders.

As a Data Analyst, you are part of the technology teams. The tech team is the power source of our whole company, allowing other teams to innovate and scale. We use an agile scrum framework to ship cutting-edge technology rapidly. You will also work closely with the marketing and styling team, which are key drivers for the startup’s growth and traction.

You will analyze a wide variety of Taelor’s digital product and marketing data — consumer website, subscriber membership platform, operations (inventory, styling, fulfillment including picking, packing, cleaning and returning), customer churn analysis, pricing and marketing channels.

Your insights will play a central role in the way we build products ensuring our products and features are valuable for people, easy to use and of the highest level of craft and execution. Your insights will help creatively solve big, complicated, real-world problems by focusing on people. We develop quality experiences for some of the world’s most challenging problems such as sustainability and circular fashion.

Your insights will help optimize our consumer website to help improve website non-subscriber conversion rate. Your insights will also help build a frictionless website and app for subscribers to communicate with their personal stylist, add items to wishlist, share their preference and goals, track shipments, review rented items, share their outfit photos, purchase rented items, refer friends, sign up to be our ambassadors and more. In addition, your insights will help our stylists, clothing buyers, and warehouse workers to streamline their workflow and provide better service to our customers.

You will utilize a full range of technical skills and business knowledge to contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams. Our ideal candidate has experience in digital product analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), marketing analytics (e.g., Meta Analytics) and business analytics (e.g., using Power BI and R), and has a basic understanding of data engineering and data science modeling. Responsibilities

  • Support executives on goals-setting and financial analytics
  • Support Product Analytics (for Product Manager), Marketing Analytics (for Marketing Manager), Business Analytics (for Category Manager/Buyer’s inventory analytics, support Customer Success’ churn analysis, and support Operation team’s operational analytics) and Data Engineering (with Data Engineer)
  • Set up tracking (with Data Engineer), dashboards and produce ongoing reporting
  • Analyze data to create actionable insights and work with cross-functional team to implement those actions and validate hypotheses
  • Create Measurement Plans including objectives, primary and secondary metrics, data source, benchmark, actions and counter-metrics
  • Conduct Funnel Analysis to identify actionable insights and recommend hypothesis and potential feature ideas
  • Create A/B Testing Plan including problem statement, hypotheses, primary and secondary metrics, go or no-go plan, ramp-up plan
  • Develop Post Analysis & Ad Hoc Analysis that go beyond numbers (test user experience, understand context, review creatives) and focus on impact (put key business results, insights and actionable recommendations in the report and follow up afterwards to make sure actions happen)
  • Conduct qualitative research as needed
  • Work with Product Managers and Marketing Managers to take broad, conceptual ideas or complex actions and turn them into useful, valuable and creative features and experiences by leveraging data-driven insights
  • Demonstrate effective presentation to illustrate complicated data in a simple and actionable way and communicate with fellow team members and management
  • Collaborate with product managers, brand designers, marketers, stylists, copywriter/content strategist and category manager/buyer and engineers who may be located internationally with different time zones to serve a U.S. nationwide audience
  • Experience in data analysis, including web analytics, marketing analytics, or business analytics
  • Experience in Google Analytics
  • Experience in articulating business questions and using quantitative techniques to arrive at a solution
  • Experience in business intelligence (BI) queries, reports & visualizations
  • Experience in Google Adwords or Facebook Pixel a plus
  • Experience in R, SPSS, SAS, Power BI or Python a plus
  • A strategic thinker with the understanding of product and marketing goals who can identify business opportunities and make decisions based on the impact to customers and the company
  • Expert in time management and taking self-initiative in a fast-paced and remote working environment where quick and multiple iteration happens
  • Thrive within the startup environment and be willing to take on multiple roles outside of your core scope
  • Fluent in English
